JOrdan - Run Coach
I’m a road & ultra trail runner, making me an outdoor enthusiast by association, as well as the manager of the Runner’s Den; the local running shop here in Hamilton, Ontario.
I received my B. Sc. in Kinesiology from McMaster University in 2015, where my studies focused on exercise physiology, sports injuries, and biomechanics. Having learned how the human body responds to exercise, the most important thing I took away from my education is that exercise truly is medicine. Living a healthy lifestyle has been shown to have long lasting positive effects on the physical body and mental health.
I’ve run competitively for the past 15 years, from joining the cross country team in high school, to being a part of the varsity team throughout university. From the time I started running, I was challenged and encouraged by amazing coaches, which taught me how having a great coach can make all the difference.
After university I had a short stint with road racing, but was introduced to ultra trail running when I watched a YouTube video on the world renown Ultra-Trail Mont Blanc in The Alps. I dove headfirst into the world of trail running and it has since taken me on many beautiful trails right at home, but also around the globe, including ski mountains in the USA, The Alps in Europe, and Table Mountain in South Africa.
BETH - Nutrition & WELLNESS coach
I’m a Holistic Nutritionist and recipe developer with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. I am passionate about combining food, wellness, and fitness to bring the best out of each person.
My education focused on Sports Nutrition and Epidemiology, where I learned the impact that food has on each person’s health and well being in a way that’s unique to them. Studying Holistic Nutrition provided me with the skills to look at all sides of a person when it comes to wellness, not just what food goes into their mouth (albeit that is very important!).
I am here to encourage you to reach your nutrition goals, whether that’s learning how to cook new foods, finding out how you should eat for your unique body, or falling in love with food and cooking without restriction or intimidation. Simple changes to your diet and lifestyle can cause an increase in joy and the feeling of freedom in your day-to-day!
Here’s to a little more joy and a little less stress!
